Hi all! We wanted to share something with you today very close to our hearts! We are having a huge fundraiser for our non profit Waweza Movement next weekend that benefits deaf and special needs children on the other side of the world in Kenya. We’d like to personally invite you to come shop at the sale and to donate goods until April 8th!
(PLEASE SEE FLYER AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST FOR DETAILS ON TIME, PLACE, AND WHAT WE ARE STILL IN NEED OF DONATIONS FOR!)
The reason we are writing this blog is to show you some of the faces that will be affected by your donation of gently used goods or shopping at the sale. All of the children you see here are deaf and have no real way of expressing themselves or communicating with their community & family around them. Because they cannot communicate (not many family members or friends take the time to learn sign language to engage with these kids) they are often abused and isolated due to their disability. When we first visited the deaf school we were marked forever and knew we had to make sacrifices to better these kid’s lives. We have had an amazing team of people join along us to make feeding, clothing, educating, and providing safety for these kids a reality over the last year — but, we are just getting started! And this is your opportunity to join into our movement to bring stability and safety to these sweet kids.
So join us next week to shop or leave a comment here or on our Facebook to find out ways to donate gently used kids goods! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated thus far! You are making tangible change in the lives of these kids! And a big thank you to Cory Long for providing the images for this blog from our last trip to Kenya.
