If the title of this blog hasn’t already won you over, let us tell you right now why you need to go make this milkshake. First of all because we took a bunch of ingredients that we already had and got creative. And that’s just fun. But secondly because this little experiment of ours tasted so outrageously good that we couldn’t NOT share it with you. So here’s what we had to work with:
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- Cake Batter
- Rainbow Sprinkles
- Whipped Cream (optional)
- Malted Milk Powder (optional)
When we opened the pantry and saw the box of cake mix we were almost certain we heard the angels singing the hallelujah chorus in there. Because if you know anything about us, you know that we are ‘lick-the-spoon’ kind of girls. Come on…You know that every time you make cupcakes or brownies you want to lick that bowl clean. Then you hear your mom’s voice in your head – “Raw eggs are gonna make you sick!” And since we’re all for obeying your mama around here, we came up with this little shake to curb that craving!
So, without further ado…here’s how to make it:
Fill your cup or blender about ¾ of the way full of vanilla ice cream. Then pour your milk over top – for that perfect milkshake thickness, make sure the milk does not completely cover the ice-cream! Next, add 1 tbsp of cake mix, – we used white but again, any cake mix will work. Top it off with 1 tsp of sprinkles (cuuuuuuuteness), and if desired add 1 tsp of malted milk powder to make it a malt. Then, blend it all together, top it with some whipped cream and throw some more sprinkles on there because you can…plus it makes it look so darn adorable.
You almost cannot even begin drinking this milkshake without turning on your favorite chick flick or celebrating life’s smallest joys…whether it’s getting all the laundry folded and put away, your workday being over, or simply just welcoming the weekend, we think it’s worth celebrating!
So cheers to celebrating the little things in life….like a Sprinkles and Cake Shake!
We made this entire recipe dairy-free for Megan, so we used vanilla soymilk and lactose free ice-cream, but you can use whatever you want to make yours! We can attest, however, that the dairy-free version is delicious and doesn’t leave you feeling like you missed out.
