It’s cold out, you guys. Like, really cold. And while we do LOVE to dress up a winter outfit with a big scarf overtop a fluffy, warm jacket, sometimes it’s just better to stay inside in your cozy clothes. Can we get a witness?!
Today, that’s the kind of agenda we have – a little mid-week holiday, if you will. And what better accent to those nice, stretched out sweatpants that you will never, under any condition and without any ounce of shame, get rid of, than a yummy cup of steaming cocoa!? We got your back, girl.
Thus, we present to you the world’s easiest, most delicious cocoa recipe in the history of cocoa recipes. You’re welcome. Doesn’t it just seem dreamy to home-make your own hot chocolate on a dreary wintery day? Oh, and before we give you the recipe, you should probably make sure you have The Holiday or some other PERFECT winter movie nearby so that while your cocoa is simmering, you are making good use of your time. Definitely go do that.
So here’s what you’ll need:
- (1) 12oz can sweetened condensed milk
- (2) tsp vanilla extract
- (7) cups water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- ¼ cup dry baking cocoa
- 4oz white baking chocolate
In your slow-cooker, combine milk, water, and vanilla. Then add your dry cocoa powder and salt. Whisk all of that until smooth. Lastly, add your white baking chocolate. (We use ½ of an 8oz bar of Ghirardelli white chocolate which is 4 squares). Put the lid on, plug it in, and let cook – on high for 2 hours or low for 4, stirring every so often just to make sure the white chocolate melts and doesn’t stick. This should serve about 8 people.
But the joy doesn’t stop there – spruce it up with some toppings! A few things we thought might be good:
- Marshmallows (duh!)
- Whipped cream with cocoa powder and a peppermint stick
- Whipped cream with sea salt and caramel drizzle
- Or if you’re feeling wild, put all of it on! We don’t care, and neither do your stretchy pants!!
And voila! It’s that easy! Quick to prepare and easy to enjoy! You could even have this ready for guests if you choose to entertain. Nothing says ‘You are welcome here’ like a hot cup of something yummy!
Let us know how you enjoyed your cup of cocoa and what toppings you used!
