It all started with a little bottle of seasoning. Mel found these yummy seasonings at Home Goods during the holidays and bought a handful of them for Megan and Joe as part of their Christmas gift. It was a totally spontaneous purchase and she had no idea how they would taste — unreasonably disgusting or unbelievably delicious. The answer: the latter. The seasonings are off. the. chain. Like seriously. SO, Meg decided to use the cajun spice on her tilapia one night while making dinner, and the rest is history. Thus we present to you, these savory, delicious, make-your-mouth-water cajun fish tacos. Annnnd they take about 15 seconds to make. JACKPOT. (Sidenote: we have searched high and low at Home Goods and TJ’s to find it again and haven’t had any luck — BUT they do have it here and it is worth every penny!)

So here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2 filets of tilapia (feeds 2)
  • Purple Cabbage (we bought a bag of pre-shredded. super cheap and super easy)
  • Cilantro
  • Fresh limes or Lime juice
  • Avocado
  • Tortillas (we used corn)
  • Olive Oil
  • Gourmet Collection Hot n’ Spicy Cajun Style Spice Blend

And here’s how you do it:

Begin by seasoning both sides of your fish and place it in a skillet coated in olive oil on medium to high heat. While your fish is cooking, take 1-2 teaspoons of lime juice or squeeze half of a fresh lime over your cabbage and toss. Chop your avocado and the remainder of your lime(s) and set aside. Allow fish to cook through (about 3 minutes on each side) until it easily breaks apart. If using corn tortillas, we recommend browning them however you are able — Megan has a gas stove and heats them directly over the open flame. If you have an electric stove, coat another pan in a little bit of olive oil and cook the tortillas on medium heat until slightly browned. Finally, assemble your tacos with tilapia, cabbage, avocado, cilantro, and top with an addition squeeze of fresh lime juice! So easy, so fast, SO incredibly yummy!
