Shake, Rattle, + Roll Baby Shower {recap}

Yesterday I hosted a baby shower for my sister-in-law and my soon-to-be niece or nephew! With the help of my amazingly, helpful-to-the-max mama, it went off without a hitch and I think it turned out pretty cute! When Chris + Em told us they were pregnant, I almost instantly started brainstorming shower ideas. Look, this is my first niece or nephew, so it had to be perfect down to the very last detail.

The theme I ended up going with was Shake, Rattle, + Roll. Once I pegged the theme down, I went crazy coming up with every little detail, menu item, and decoration. SO. MUCH. FUN.

Our menu for the day was all about our Mama-to-be and what she loves, so we had:

  • Chick-fil-A Nuggets
  • Finger Sandwiches (RB+Turkey)
  • Peppercorn Ranch Salad from Dewey’s
  • Fruit Salad
  • Veggie Tray
  • Buffalo Chicken Dip
  • Spinach + Artichoke Dip
  • Hanky Pank Dip
  • Servatii’s pretzels with beer cheese
  • Iced Tea
  • Lemon Water
  • Spiked Peach Tea Lemonade

My main focus was on the dessert table, where I had my SHAKE, RATTLE, and ROLL prints displayed with their corresponding dessert tray below. For our ‘Shake’ theme, we had homemade milkshakes (one of Em’s favorite prego treats!), for ‘Rattle,’ Chocolate covered Oreo rattles, and for ‘Roll’ we had mini homemade chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches with rainbow sprinkles. We also had a BEAUTIFUL, delicious cake made by the wonderfully talented Sara at The Baking Actor (who totally outdid herself, y’all. THIS GIRL IS AMAZING and the cake was DELISH!). AND specially made just for us by my crazy-talented cartoonist cousin in Hollywood was our handmade wire carriage cake topper. OBSESSED. By the end of the shower, Emily was still growing her human baby, and the rest of us were preggers with our very own food babies. BUT YUMZ. (Recipes and info on all the details are at the end of this post!)

Emily (and Chris) and the little Sugar Bean were showered with big time love, lots of practical items, and plenty of cute baby stuff that made us all go “awwww!” about 500 times. Aren’t baby showers just the best?! Now all we have left to do is meet the little person! I am beside myself with excitement to get to be Aunt Lissy to this sweet little bean. Em is due at the end of July, so just a few more weeks til we can squeeze that newborn and steal lots of baby snuggles! SO SOON!

To end the festivities, each of the beautiful ladies that came left the shower with a little Sweet Pea hand-sanitizer from Bath and Body works as a favor for joining us to celebrate our little sweet pea on the way!
